Amazon on Friday launched a shopping service targeted at couples getting married. It features wedding planning guides as well as a registry service, the company said. The registry includes a checklist designed to allow couples to keep track of items they are adding, and it suggests what quantity of each item is appropriate. The planning guides help couples plan and manage each task.
The service will also allow couples to search for local vendors, such as florists, photographers and caterers, via Amazon's A9 Yellow Pages. Amazon has offered a "wish list" service for several years, allowing customers to specify items they plan to buy, or would like others to buy for them.
