Venezuela and GM

First of all, Ethanol in gas is NOT new. :| Remember the "Gasahol" of the late '70s???

Second, Venezuela has already stuck both their middle fingers up at OPEC with the help of GM. GM is producing cars in Venezuela that can run on PURE Ethanol and a Gas/Ethanol mixure and Gas alone...it's the owner's choice!

Bush SAYS he wants alternative energy sources to be expanded when HIS OWN family owns the largest share of EXXON/MOBILE!!! How long do YOU think it'll take for the US to do the same as Venezuela, with a 'prez' who has LARGE intere$t$ in Big Oil???????????????

First, Ethanol in gas is NOT new. :| Anyone remember the "Gasahol" of the late '70s? And I remember as a kid in the early '60s my Dad pulling up to the pumps and asking for "Ethyl". He complained when gas went up to 25 cents a gallon!!! Back then there were three grades of (leaded) gas: Regular, Super, and Ethyl. I wonder if that is the same "Ethyl" mentioned in the article.

Second, Venezuela has completely stuck both of their middle fingers up at OPEC with the help of GM. GM is building cars in Venezuela that can run on either PURE Ethanol or an Ethanol/Gas Blend or just plain gas. All that from ONE vehicle!!! It's the owner's choice at ANY particular moment WHAT to fill their tank with...choosing one of the three choices!!!

Third, Bush SAYS he wants the US to be independent of OPEC also. However, HIS own FAMILY owns the largest portion of Exxon Mobile Company stock shares. What does THAT tell YOU???
It tells ME that until we get a 'prez' who does not have any inter$t$ in Big Oil that we have a snowball's chance in #3|| of becomming independent of OPEC Nation$!!!

Leadership lacking

Ethyl alcohol is a viable alternate to or energy needs...unfortuantely, what is lacking in our contry is leadership. I order to be free of blackmail by other nations and continued warfare there has to be a national committment and vision as was the space program in the '60s.
I don't see any politicians around that have the kind of courage to buck big oil and do the right thing.
