Companies looking to hire workers skilled in RFID, or radio frequency identification, have their work cut out for them, according to a survey released on Tuesday by the Computing Technology Industry Association. Eighty percent of the survey respondents said the RFID talent pool is too small. Two-thirds said training and educating their employees about the technology is one of the biggest challenges they face in competing in the RFID market.
The results of the survey are based on responses from 51 members of CompTIA, a trade association composed mainly of computer services firms and computer manufactuers. CompTIA sells RFID training programs and certifications. RFID is a wireless monitoring and authentication technology that proponents tout as the next big wave in information technology.
