WWF enters digital arena

World Wrestling Federation Entertainment says it has inked a deal with media services company Sekani to put the WWF's analog content into a digital format. Under the agreement, Sekani will also store, catalog and manage the WWF's archives, including more than 40 years of pay-per-view events, live programming and home video. The deal is the WWF's latest effort to develop new revenue streams by delivering its programs through various digital distribution outlets, including video-on-demand and the Internet.

Last year, New York-based Sekani struck a similar deal with NBC Olympics to offer sports fans Sydney 2000 Olympic Home Videos. Under the deal, Sekani digitally encoded and archived NBC's Olympic coverage. Sekani also made the tapes widely available in the United States via the Internet.
