Vonage interim president now permanent

Vonage Holdings, a broadband telecom provider, said Thursday that Timothy Smith will remain in his post as president of Vonage Network after several months as interim president. Smith had held the temporary role at the Vonage Holdings subsidiary since June. He was promoted at that time amid a management shuffle in which then-president Louis Mamakos returned to his prior role as chief technology officer. At the time, Vonage was also facing a class action lawsuit over its initial public offering. It was also dealing with multiple patent infringement lawsuits.

Smith had first joined Vonage in July 2005 as senior vice president of network and systems infrastructure. Previously, Smith was employed by several technology companies, including Sun Microsystems and UUNet.
