Virtual Iron's software hits the market

Virtual Iron Software, a start-up whose software lets programs run on a slice of a single server or group of several, released its first product this week. Virtual Iron's software is a foundation that "virtualizes" underlying hardware, in theory making it possible to provide a flexible foundation for programs and to use hardware more efficiently.

A basic configuration of the software, spanning several servers, costs $50,000, the company said.
