WiMAX threat is real and Verizon's wants ROI for EVDO roll outs

I think Verizon is announcing this trial in a very visible manner, because the Sprint WiMAX deployment is a serious threat to ROI for the billions spent on their EVDO network.

So at this point of time it more a tactical announcement to somehow say they have something to counter WiMAX, but sad thing is it will be 2.5 years late. Ouch!
