VMware debuts GSX Server for Windows

VMware, a company whose software lets computers run several operating systems simultaneously, will introduce a new Windows version of its GSX Server software Monday. The company has been selling a version of GSX Server for Linux since January.

The software is useful for those who write, test and support software that has to work with several different versions of operating-system software and accompanying higher-level programs, the company said. Later, though, the company hopes the software will be used in more demanding server environments. VMware lets a computer run several different virtual machines at the same time. The software costs $2,499 for a downloaded version and $2,550 for a packaged product.
