UnitedLinux gains database ally

The UnitedLinux consortium has passed tests certifying use with Oracle's 9i Real Application Clusters (RAC) database software.

Database software is a key foundation for many business tasks, so the certification is a significant step as the four-company consortium unifies software around SuSE's version of Linux. UnitedLinux rival Red Hat already has the certification.
