These are not real laptops
but "toy laptops" they lack the features that the modern day US student needs. Now the price has been jacked up because India, Thailand, and other nations refuse to order them because the quality and features aren't what they need in their schools.

All this laptop really is, would be an electronic book with a very small screen. At $175USD each, it would be cheaper to give out $99USD PalmOS devices to the students and use bluetooth to communicate with others. The PalmOS devices have more features than this "toy laptop" does. Plus they can store contract lists, a calendar, read and send email, use wireless cards for Internet access ($35USD extra) and still be cheaper than the $175USD price tag of these pathetic laptops.

Real laptops can be bought for $500USD, and with an educational discount at $300USD ($200USD educational rebate or discount) for an AMD based low end laptop with more features than that "toy laptop" will ever hope to have.
