Preposterous and stupid
SMTP and email in general are the LEAST secure, most easily spoofed things in existence. Given that it's impossible to stop spam and phishing... I can't even continue to type... Just presposterous and stupid.

isn't smtp only the transmission medium?
They're not giving you national secrets through email, they're only providing a daily mailing list indicating the current concieved threat from terrorist activities.

I think it markets the current US fear based government more than actual public saftey but still, that a feeling about the content rather than the transmission medium.

The Need To Be Five Steps Ahead!
In today's world of dynamic changes in the IT world could one imagine that "e-mail (Snail Mail) alerts are the latest in a series of moves by MI5 and its partner, the international spy agency MI6..." when there are YOUTUBE (style); and, INSTANT MESSAGING (SameTime) AND CONFERENCING TECHNOLOGIES to enable REAL-TIME COMMUNICATIONS.

Geez.... in what age is "MI5 and its partner, the international spy agency MI6" living in?

BEAM ME UP SCOTTY!

MI5
is this the same MI5 who told an intelligence conference of cabinet MP's on July the 6th there was no terror threat?

On July the 7th the biggest terrorism outrage to hit London happened.

MI5, credibility garenteed eh?

i guess we'll subcribe you anyway.

Just basic propaganda 101 only! total fiction at best!
Oh well, after getting the basic chemistry 101 over the so called great liquid explosive affair last year so wrong at all UK airports and thus allowing the police and many other jack booted 'peter principle disciples' to abuse all innocent airline passengers without due cause or logical reason!

I seem to recall , the past history of these so called English Security and Secret Service Agencies, have been extensively riddled with numerous foreign counter intelligence spies for decades without detection!, which means virtually all foreign service penetrations have been compromised from the outset!

Who indeed, would thus believe any propaganda, that these so called secret service agencies would out put for most if not all would be totally fictional, for to tell the truth would compromise all foreign field service counter intelligence agents in place!

This is merely another one of those so called failed cold war ideas, for after all look at the old say "Better dead then Red", it was merely an itelligence coverup to the real program responsible for the deaths of hundreds of military personel flying doomed death traps over the former territories of the Soviet Union in a vain bid to obtain intelligence, since the majority of field agents sent in, were either executed or turned into double agents the moment they crossed the border!

This new century, has turned all current mass media into a superb propaganda machine to create the great new fear of the what if!, and to maintain the status quo of the past nameless cold war fears previously created!, even though we owed much to the former Soviet Union, for if were not for the great Russian sacrifice at all levels, we would be for the most part speaking German today if truth be told!

What a shame, that the internet can undermine such blatant disregard for the real facts and allows for the many and varied forms of the truth to fly around the world at the speed of light, outside the domain of the ever corrupt and incompetent so called intelligence agencies, who operate to their own hidden agendas and neither serve or protect, those that pay their wages!, and constantly rewrite their own rules of engagement, whenever it suits them!

As the old saying goes "the means justify the ends, and the ends justify the means" until Nuremberg!, can one say our so called democratically elected world leaders who told only lies to go to war in Iraq in 2003, are now just common garden variety war criminals themselves?

But then again, that is precisely how Adolf Hilter, gained total and absolute control of Germany in the early thirties, using identical torrents of propaganda!, to that which we face today since the dawn of this new century from our much compromised mass media, Iraq being one such classical example, of creating a media frenzy over absolute fiction and so called still current democratically elected world leaders telling total lies, which were published as credible fact Judith Miller style!, rather than the total absolute fiction that they were!(Spain was the equivalent example in 1936 of Iraq 2003!, how soon we forget!, and those that chose to question, were ridiculed rather than supported as they should have been!)

What price freedom and democracy indeed, when we are routinely fed only lies from our so called democratically elected leaders and no real facts?

Who Drew "First Blood" On 9/11!
"As the old saying goes "the means justify the ends, and the ends justify the means" until Nuremberg!, can one say our so called democratically elected world leaders who told only lies to go to war in Iraq in 2003, are now just common garden variety war criminals themselves?..." as a certain Good Book says, "Ye are like the sheep and I am the Shepherd; and, the Good Shepherd giveth his Life for His sheep..."; and, "Will be with you until the end...". Are you a sheep or a Shepherd that watches over his flock at night!
