Screw US car makers for screwing the people by giving them no new technology in cars :(
I mean can u imagine that typical US made car gets the same MPG today as it did in 1955, or even worst!
What the HEK happened to engineering?
To innovating!
How many more stupid, useless, Web 2.0 or Open Source companies are VCs going to invest in rather than investing in real innovation, such as cars that get 100 MPG and cost $10 to $15K!
Airplanes that provide 1st class seating for the price of coach.
Search engines that provide much lower cost of Advertising. etc.
So thanks goodness for Japanese at least innovating with Prius and giving the people a real useful technology.

- bobbydi and your fellow guzzlers --- You sound like you may be one of those many road raged, Prius rear bumper riders I see in my rearview mirror during my daily commutes. I see you and your 15-minus mpg Pick-Up Truck and SUV driving brethren and sistren going into 60-plus mpg *Prius- Envy* behind me. When your eye balls lock-on to the Prius Hybrid Synergy Drive logo and badge on the rear hatchback door of GREEN MACHINE, you go GREEN --- GREEN WITH ENVY & RAGE.

(4 Comments)What usually happens next is you stand on your horn, stomp down on your accelerator and dangerously pass me only to quickly pull in front of me and slow down so as to cause me to have to hit my brakes to keep from hitting you. The road-rage manuever is a dangerously foolish and fuel-wasting one for you, and a fuel-saving battery charging one for me. The regenerative braking hybrid mode you force me into just charges my hybrid battery even more as it causes the needle on your gas gauge to dip towards EMPTY even more rapidly.
Do not blame me and my GEN II fuel-sipper for tooling along in *Warp Stealth* on pure battery power --- using Zero Petrol --- whilst your fuel-gulper guzzles down one gallon of gas for every quart of *Black Arabian Gold* my Prius sips down.
We Toyota Prius Hybrid hypermiler drivers do not *run...red lights,* as you falsely charge. We anticipate red lights well ahead of traffic light changes so we can take advantage of regenerative coasting to keep our Hybrid Batteries charged to the max without having to use gasoline to run the ICE to charge them.
