Toshiba's Media Center PC enters U.S.

Toshiba on Tuesday launched its first Media Center PC in the United States. The company added Microsoft's Windows XP Media Center edition software to its top-of-the line Satellite 5205 notebook to create the new model. Dubbed Satellite 5205-S705, it includes a TV tuner with a remote control, a DVD burner and a built-in speaker set with a subwoofer.

Toshiba says customers can use the notebook to record and view TV shows as well as view and edit movies. The $2,699 notebook also incorporates a UXGA or 1600-by-1200-pixel 15-inch display, a 2.4GHz Pentium 4-M processor from Intel, 512MB of RAM (random access memory), a 60GB hard drive and Nvidia's GeForce FX Go5600 graphics processor.
