Top sales exec quits Siebel

Siebel Systems' global head of sales is leaving the software company, a spokesman confirmed Wednesday. Richard Chiarello, who was hired as senior vice president of worldwide sales just 15 months ago, has left that post but will remain as a consultant to the company until the end of March. The San Mateo, Calif., company is not seeking a replacement.

Siebel said last week that it had reorganized its sales team under three division heads, each reporting to CEO Tom Siebel. Siebel spokesman Burghardt Tenderich gave no reason for Chiarello's departure or the management changes, which come just after Siebel said it beat sales estimates for the fourth quarter.
