Tibco acquires software company

Business software maker Tibco said Wednesday that it has acquired Praja, a 10-person software firm based in San Diego, Calif., for an undisclosed sum. Praja, founded by a pair of professors from the University of Michigan in 1996, makes data-sharing and analysis software. Its customers include General Motors and IBM.

Tibco develops software designed to facilitate the transfer of data between incompatible computer systems. Praja's software will give Tibco new capabilities allowing its customers to more effectively monitor business transactions and operations, Tibco said.
