TiVo travels to Taiwan

TiVo on Tuesday announced plans to enter retail markets in Taiwan.

The company has signed a deal with TGC to make available digital video recorders with TiVo technology in Taiwan, it said. TCG is the company's partner in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. TiVo has a "significant minority interest" in TGC, it said.

TiVo is working with media and advertising companies to provide its subscribers with searchable ads for selected categories. The new feature is designed to enable users to receive advertisements based on their interests, after creating their user profile on the TiVo set-top box.

TiVo sees great potential in the Taiwan market because the country's cable penetration is more than 80 percent, the company said. TCG officials see "extensive demand for the TiVo technology throughout Asia."

"Consumers around the world want the TiVo experience," CEO Tom Rogers said in a statement. "We are committed to enhancing the TiVo brand and to delivering a superior television-viewing experience to living rooms around the world."

TiVo is set to report third-quarter results after the market closes Tuesday.

When it will come to Brazil :-) ?

I am wondering when will they come to Brazil, I have a TIVO box down here and I really want to pay to have access to the service locally.

Vi ums coisas no internet sobre a SKY TV mais nada oferecendo o servico?

Do you know if there is any type of DVR service in Brazil yet? I want to get it for my mother I saw an article on the SKY web site but nothing about signing up for service?
