TiVo Series2 recorders hit stores

TiVo's Series2 digital video recorders are now available at Best Buy, TiVo announced Tuesday. Digital video recorders are similar to VCRs, except that instead of storing shows on tape they record them onto a hard drive. The two companies signed an exclusive agreement last month where Best Buy would be the only retail chain to sell TiVo-branded recorders. The Series2 recorders will sell for $399.99 and come with a 60GB hard drive, which allows for about 60 hours of record time. Best Buy sells home installation for $99.99.

TiVo is planning to work with partners to make additional services, such as music storage and playback, available on the Series2 recorder.
