'The Sims' go Hollywood

Electronics Arts announced on Thursday plans for a new expansion pack for "The Sims," the all-time top-selling PC game. "The Sims Superstar" will allow players to pursue new careers such as rock star and supermodel for their in-game characters. The add-on will also give players a new destination, Studio Town, where they can pursue show biz careers, hide from paparazzi and get spa treatments. "The Sims Superstar" is scheduled for release in May.

Various editions of "The Sims" have sold a combined 24 million units since the franchise began three years ago. Electronic Arts has not been as successful, however, in translating the game's appeal for an online environment.
