Hewlett-Packard has bagged a three-year, multimillion-dollar contract to supply PCs and servers to "Star Wars" creator Lucasfilm, the companies said Wednesday. The Palo Alto, Calif.-based PC maker will supply up to 1,000 HP xw9300 workstations for Lucasfilm's new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco, as well for its Singapore facility. These machines run on dual-core AMD Opteron chips and will be used for work on new video games, visual effects and animation, HP said.
In addition, HP will also provide a 35-terabyte-capacity HP StorageWorks XP12000 Disk Array for storing and archiving audiovisual content produced by Lucasfilm. Specific financial details were not released.
