The Big Apple Drops on the Net

The Times Square apple is dropping in on the Internet this year. The 88th Ball Lowering Ceremony will begin at 11:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve and will feature live video and audio. Approximately 675 international cybercaf?s are expected to join the party.

The New Year's Eve bash will include 20,000 pom-poms, 3,000 pounds of confetti, and a laser light show.

Apple Computer and Bill Graham Presents are also sponsoring a New Year's party on the Net called SFNYE. Performers include Santana, Gin Blossoms, and War. The event will start at 6 p.m. PT and will be accessible by using Apple QuickTime Live.
