Texas Instruments on Monday announced a trio of new digital signal processors. TI's TMS320C6416 DSP is aimed at wireless base stations for next-generation cell phones and can support up to 350 voice channels at 12.2 kilobits per second. TI's TMS320C6415 DSP can support both broadband communications and multimedia imaging, such as MPEG decoding and encoding. The TMS320C6414 DSP handles general processing jobs.

TI is offering each chip in three clock speeds: 400MHz, 500MHz and 600MHz. The price of the chips start at $95 each in volume purchases.
