T-Mobile, AT&T Wireless form roaming pact

T-Mobile USA and AT&T Wireless agreed to a hot-spot roaming pact for certain airport locations, the companies announced earlier this week. Under the deal, T-Mobile subscribers will be able to use AT&T Wireless' hot-spot network in the Denver International and Philadelphia International airports, while AT&T Wireless hot-spot customers will be able to use T-Mobile's network in the San Francisco International airport. The partnership is the first between the companies for hot-spot service, which allows Wi-Fi gear owners to wirelessly access a network and resources connected to it in public areas. The services will be available in the middle of the year.

In related news, AT&T Wireless and Amtrak announced that starting in the summer, commuters will have hot-spot access at train stations in the northeast. As expected, six Amtrak stations--Route 128 near Boston; Providence, R.I.; Wilmington, Del.; 30th Street Station in Philadelphia; Baltimore, Md. and New York's Penn Station--will have AT&T Wireless' hot-spot service.
