Syntax unveils new TVs

Syntax, which is trying to carve out a niche in the low-end of the fancy TV market, unveiled its product line for the first half of 2005 on the eve of the Consumer Electronics Show taking place in Las Vegas this week. Among other products, Syntax will release a 26-inch LCD TV that will retail for $899 and a 61-inch rear-projection TV featuring a liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) chip.

Syntax also announced that LG Philips will provide it with LCD panels for its TVs.

Based in Southern California's City of Industry, Syntax is one of a number of small manufacturers that have entered the TV business in recent years. Since April, Syntax has shipped 97,000 TVs, according to the company. It sells TVs at CompUSA and Target, as well as through several online outlets.
