Sybase's embedded database XML friendly

Sybase division iAnywhere Solutions introduced on Monday a revamped edition of its embedded database that improves the ability to handle XML-formatted data.

The database, called SQL Anywhere, is designed for use as part of corporate sales applications for mobile workers or to be embedded in industry-specific applications in health care and retail settings. The SQL Anywhere Studio 9 development tool adds the ability to create applications that use Web services protocols and XML to transport data. It costs $399 for the iAnywhere software and $119 per person using applications built with the database.
