Sybase updates database management

Sybase next Monday will release an update to its Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) database, which adds features aimed at lowering the cost of operating a company's database.

Sybase ASE 12.5.1 introduces tools to schedule administrative tasks and to diagnose problems. The company has sought to improve database performance, including versions for Linux running on Intel servers. The latest version also makes it easier to store XML (Extensible Markup Language) documents and write Web services applications. Pricing for Sybase ASE 12.5.1 starts at $1,495.
