Sybase mixes mobile Web and database tools

Sybase subsidiary iAnywhere Solutions on Tuesday released a toolkit that includes mobile Web development tools and the SQL Anywhere mobile database, a combination intended to ease the creation of mobile business applications.

Sybase gained Web-oriented development tools and server software, now called M-Business Anywhere, through its acquisition of AvantGo last year. The company has integrated the M-Business Anywhere software with SQL Anywhere Studio, a tool for writing applications on databases that run on handheld devices such as PocketPCs. The combined products will make it easier to write wireless applications that rely on local data storage and transactions that a mobile database provides, the company said.
