Anybody been reading these blogs?
I have, and honestly, they're 99 percent dreadful. What I have
learned from them is that Park City is overrun with mobs of
wannabe hipsters, including the blogists who spend half their
writing time taking shots at the professional hipsters of the
movie industry and the rest of the time whining about their
travel arrangements or accomodations or the weather or the
traffic. Listen up, folks: I really, really, really don't care what you
think about the burittos at the snack bar. I really, really don't
care what you overheard some unnamed person at the bus stop
say about a movie you haven't seen. I don't care about your
version of "the buzz," (i.e. bus stop chatter). I don't care about
your difficulties walking in snow. In fact, I don't care about YOU
at all. Sundance is supposed to be about movies. I want to know
about the movies. There are 150-some features on display, and
so far, all y'all seem to be writing about the same half-dozen
title, when you write about any movie at all. And half of you have
nothing to less to say about the movie than you do about your
own intrepid voyage across the parking lot to get in to see it.
Cripes, what's the point of being there if you're only going to
write about yourself? Yes, I'm sure your roommate or your mom
or someone is going to care that you saw John Waters at the
grocery store, but come on! What does that actually mean to, oh
say, people who are interested in movies? Give me some MSM,
please.
