Tony Ridder, the former chief executive of now-defunct newspaper chain Knight Ridder, and Peter Currie, president of Currie Capital, have joined the board of Sun Microsystems, the server and software company said Monday. Ridder will serve on Sun's Leadership Development and Compensation Committee and Currie will serve on its Audit Committee.
Ridder is on the board of McClatchy, which in March bought Knight Ridder. Currie, the former chief financial officer for Netscape Communications and McCaw Cellular, also serves on the board of Safeco Insurance and CNET Networks, publisher of News.com. Recent Sun board member departures include John Doerr and Robert Fisher.
