Sun names new services chief

Sun Microsystems has named Marissa Peterson as executive vice president of the company's services group. The new duties will be added to her existing job as chief customer advocate and head of worldwide operations. Peterson replaces Patricia Sueltz, who left Sun to join Salesforce.com in February. Peterson, 42, has worked for Sun since 1988, leading at various times the company's manufacturing and its worldwide logistics and customer quality. Before that, she was a management consultant at Booz, Allen and Hamilton and did financial and engineering work for General Motors, Sun said.
