SuSE, Ximian in Linux software pact

Desktop Linux company Ximian announced a partnership with Linux seller SuSE under which SuSE will resell Ximian's Red Carpet service for distributing software updates, the companies said Monday.

In addition, SuSE and Ximian will sell a version of Ximian Connector that lets Ximian's Evolution e-mail and calendar software for PCs tap into SuSE's Openexchange server software. Ximian and SuSE both compete with Linux top dog Red Hat, which sells Red Hat Network services that compete with Red Carpet and versions Linux that compete with SuSE's products.
