People should be aware that the climate of Earth and it's atmosphere has always been in flux, the particular time reported on in this story represents one of the hottest periods. Right now we are considered to be in a period "between Ice Ages" which is another way of saying that it's eventually going to get a lot colder again. The question right now is how hot will it get before it starts getting cold again.
Personally I think too many people are making noise about the *how* of global warming and too few people are planning on how to deal with the changes caused by global warming.
people needing to plan for the changes caused by global warming.
There is nothing we can do in our lifetime, nor our childrens'
lifetimes, to deal with the changes because those changes are
made over thousands of years. There's plenty of time for people to
react naturally to those forces. You can't "do something" about
everything, as much as you'd like to. I think what we can do
something about though is try not to contribute to and accelerate
global warming.
Notice, by the way, that the universe didnt end when the poles were warm. I bet the carabou were lounging around, saying to each other 'thank goodness it warmed up, I was freezing my *** off!'.
- We need to put CO2 back into the atmosphere where it was
- by lingsun June 1, 2006 11:53 AM PDT
- Millions of years ago there were much higher levels of carbon dioxide in the air than there is now. That's because millions of tons of carbon are still in the ground in the form of coal and oil. We just need to put that CO2 back into the air as part of a plan to return the earth to what it was in the distant past. CO2 isn't the problem, it's the solution.
