Actually they only track it once it has been reported stolen. As for having your personal credit card info on it well that is your own fault. Knowing that companies use this service is another reason not to keep personal info on the computer. This is another reason for using a usb flash stick for keeping personal info on and not on a company computer.
Maybe the company should make the employee pay for the stolen computer, that way they don't have to use these kind of services. This is stupid but how is the company supposed to recover stolen computers otherwise? Offer a better solution and then the companies will probably do it.
Just my 2cents.
- Spying.

- Spying isn't very nice. Even though, the computer is owned by the company, I still don't think its reasonable to bug it. It invades the persons privacy pretty badly, people don't just use their computers for work, they use it for private things such as email, and banking, and much more. If they had located the guy when he connected to the Internet. I'm sure they are able to get a lot of other information, such as credit card numbers, passwords, private information of the employee.

- Yes, spying isn't nice but it is the company's computer. Often when you join a company you know that they reserve the right to read any e-mail that is passed through their network. Yet, workers still use the company's e-mail for personal use.
