Start-up delivers movie downloads

A start-up based in the Boston area is trying to use peer-to-peer technology to legally deliver movies onto consumers' hard drives. The company, called NetCableTV, is offering technology that lets people download movies off a network of other customers' computers instead of from a central server. Like Napster, the idea is to let people download content off other PCs, but without the copyright infringement that has gotten many download services in trouble.

NetCableTV adds two layers of digital rights management to prevent piracy, the company said. The technology lets people watch their videos in high-definition and wide-screen formats.
