Start-up Trigence hires new CEO

Trigence, a company whose software lets server applications be moved from one server to another, has hired David Roth from Hewlett-Packard to be its new chief executive, the Ottawa, Canada-based company said Tuesday. Roth previously had worked at Consera Software, a company HP acquired in 2004 whose software is designed to help customers automate computing operations spanning multiple servers.

Trigence founder and former CEO Chuck Colford will stay on the board, the company said. The Trigence Application Environment lets applications running on Solaris or Linux be packaged up and moved from one computer to another, a feature that could help customers respond to upgrades or changing job priorities.
