Sports Illustrated to charge online fees
Unlike previous moves by AOL Time Warner to charge for its Web content, only some areas of SI.com will become subscription-only. SI Exclusive, as the subscription portion is called, will include columns and news features from the Sports Illustrated print magazine, photo galleries and sports previews. Most elements of the site, including sports scores and news, will remain free. AOL subscribers will not receive SI Exclusive as part of their service, but members will continue to have exclusive access to the online versions of other magazine titles such as Entertainment Weekly and People.
