That's not why they're doing that...
This is just a means to an end. They're looking at Pringles that now have trivia printed on them and remembering how Pringles said that one day the chips might contain edible advertising.

No, my friend, this isn't about doing away with stickers. This is about ultimately turning the your grapefruit into an ad for Kelloggs Special K or that banana into a long yellow ad for Will & Grace.

Burnt tissue is carcinogenic
I for one would not eat fruit doctored in this way. It is well known that burnt tissue is carcinogenic in any quantity. That is why dieticians warn against charred meat or roasted/blackened vegetables. This advance benefits only Operational Managers and the huge retailers; not consumers. The Organic movement will hopefully ban its use in their cleaner world.
