Is Salesforce really that closed minded?

I find many comments made in this article speak of a company who has become so consumed with their ultimate goal that they don't even remember what is was anymore. When a company won't address a valid competitor it makes you wonder if they think they are invincible.

Also, while Salesforce.com is chasing their dreams and big fish, who is looking after their current SMB clients? Going by all the traffic seeking an alternative to Salesforce.com I would say the competitors Salesforce.com won't even address like Netsuite and Salesboom.com are looking after the SMB's Salesforce.com has forgotten about.
