On the heels of an investment in Vxtreme, a firm specializing in software for streaming video over the Internet, the Tokyo-based giant is looking into the possibility of teaming with Singapore Internet service provider Sembawang Media Pte. Ltd., according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Softbank officials said they were looking toward Southeast Asia for possible investment opportunities. Softbank founder Masayoshi Son was also quoted by Bloomberg as saying that new investment by the company over the next couple of years will focus on its JSkyB satellite broadcasting venture and small Internet-related companies.
Earlier this week, Softbank joined with Cisco Systems and Informix Software in a $10 million investment in Vxtreme.
