Snapfish, Walgreens to offer one-hour photos

Online photo service Snapfish is partnering with Walgreens to let customers order prints online and pick them up as soon as one hour later.

Snapfish, which is owned by Hewlett-Packard, is offering the service at some Walgreens stores in Boston, New York and San Francisco, HP said Monday. With the new service, customers can order prints in various sizes, including 4 by 6 inches, 5 by 7, 8 by 10, and wallet size.

Approximately 4,000 stores are expected to be participating by September, Snapfish said.

Walgreens last month selected Snapfish to provide its own store-branded online photo service.

Other retailers that print photos that customers order online include Best Buy, CVS, Fujifilm (in conjunction with Microsoft), Target (with Yahoo), and Wal-Mart.

Also Monday, Snapfish said it is offering a feature that lets customers send images from its Web site to as many as 10 mobile phone numbers.

Photo sharing, meanwhile, is at the center of a start-up called Slide, said to be launching Monday. Slide's service will purportedly blend photo sharing, social networking, Web syndication and e-commerce to let members subscribe to one another's photo blogs.
