Hmm...
Is this the return of the 'free internet' advertising model where everyone and their mother was providing free internet, so long as you looked at and clicked the occasional banner? Will this be the same?

good to see a little competition
Comcast is the only cable provider in my area (a reasonably large metro), and while there's some DSL competition, it is not significant enough to affect the consumer broadband market. All the providers occasionally offer short-term promtions, which are really just a cheap way to react to market conditions without having to make any real commitment to customers.

I'm glad to see this type of offering, as well as the muni-fi that is also cropping up around the country. Broadband has become a necessity to many and consumers need a fall-back in the event providers continue to operate monopolistically.

The high cost of being rich
Nice to see that people who pay tens of millions of dollars for 500
sq. ft homes have yet another free perk they did nothing to attain.
IBm would have shown more of a conscience if they had done this
somewhere where the people could really use it, like downtown
detroit. At least there it made have actually made a difference in
someone's life.
