Technology investor Paul Allen is negotiating to buy cable operator Charter Communications, according to
Broadcasting & Cable
magazine. The deal would value Charter at about $3.2 billion, the
publication said. Allen previously
bought Marcus Cable. The Los Angeles Times is also reporting the transaction. A spokeswoman
for Allen's company declined comment. (Allen is an investor in CNET: The
Computer Network, publisher of News.com).
