Short Takes: IBM licenses AlphaWorks technology

IBM said it will license early versions of IBM technology made available on its AlphaWorks Web site. The prototypes of IBM technology have always been available free, but licensing will allow software developers to incorporate the technology into the products they sell. Licensing costs for each product start at about $1,000. Initially, IBM plans to make available about 40 AlphaWorks technologies.
