Short Take: Sun releases new API

Sun Microsystems' JavaSoft division released the final version of the Java Naming and Directory Interface (JNDI), a new programming interface. The specification allows developers to write programs that can take advantage of a wide variety of directory and naming services software. The new API is available for download at the company's Web site.
