Short Take: State court upholds right to prosecute online fraud

New York attorney general Dennis Vacco applauded a decision by the state's acting Supreme Court justice, Diane Lebedeff, in a case that Vacco said upholds the attorney general's power to protect consumers from misleading online advertisers. The attorney general's office filed the suit in March against a Staten Island man, charging him with using email to allegedly lure consumers into sending money for magazine subscriptions that he never delivered.
