Short Take: State antispam bill moves forward

Legislation is advancing to give Net access providers ammunition against spammers. The California Assembly Judiciary Committee cleared Gary Miller's (R-Diamond Bar) bill, which allows ISPs to recover losses of up to $50 per message or $15,000 per day from junk emailers--unless the sender has permission or a relationship with the recipient. The bill must pass the Assembly Appropriations Committee before a full floor vote.
