Short Take: Software naming dispute resolved

Oracle and Melita have reached an out-of-court settlement with Informix allowing Informix to continue using the name "Universal Server" for its software. Oracle and Melita had sued Informix, claiming exclusive rights to the words "Universal Server." The settlement comes in the wake of a U.S. district court's denial of a preliminary injunction sought by Oracle and Melita that would have blocked Informix from using the name pending trial. There was no financial compensation in the settlement.
