Short Take: Safe Schools Internet Act introduced

Backing up a Senate bill just introduced, Rep. Bob Franks (R-New Jersey) has put forth the Safe Schools Internet Act, which requires schools and libraries that receive federal Net access subsidies to screen online content. When it comes to libraries, however, the bill could hit a snag. In a precedent-setting ruling, a federal judge in Virginia said it was unconstitutional for public libraries to filter access on all Net terminals.
