Short Take: Proposed federal and state laws attack spam

A federal anti-spam bill will be introduced by Rep. Chris Smith (R-New Jersey) next week to stop commercial junk email by amending the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991. The current draft of the bill will "protect" communications between people who have existing business or personal relationships. A similar bill is working its way through the Nevada State Assembly.
