Short Take: Juniper CEO got 1999 options now worth $187.5 million

Juniper Networks chief executive Scott Kriens got a pay package last year that included options grants worth $187.5 million at today's prices. Juniper, a maker of computer-networking equipment, paid Kriens a salary of $170,000, the same as in 1997 and 1998, and a bonus of $5,000. The pay was disclosed in a preliminary proxy statement filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Kriens, 42, holds about 7 million company shares worth about $1.9 billion. Juniper's shares have risen more than 23-fold since the company's initial public offering last June.
