Short Take: IBM licenses XML poducts

IBM is licensing XML (Extensible Markup Language) technology available on its AlphaWorks Web site. The XML tools have always been free, but licensing it will allow software developers to build the technology into the products they sell. The seven IBM technologies available include two editing tools that allow software developers to create or modify XML documents. XML is a Web standard for data exchange. Licensing costs $1,000 for each XML product.
